At least 23 people died in Bangladesh's Rajbari district after a bus plunged into a river while trying to get onto a transport ferry.
The accident occurred in the southwestern district of Rajbari at the Dauladia terminal when the bus fell into the Padma River at about 5.15 pm on Wednesday.
The bus was carrying at least 50 passengers, and the deceased include 11 women, eight children, and four men.
A rescue and search operation was launched to find those missing, and the bus was retrieved after six hours using a rescue vessel amid rough weather.
The bus was on its way to Dhaka with most people returning to the capital after Eid holidays when the driver lost control and the bus plunged into the river.
