Toronto: As Prime Minister Mark Carney marks one year in office, a majority of Canadians believe he has performed well in enhancing the country's global reputation and diversifying trade partners, but are concerned over his handling of affordability.
The Liberal Party, led by Carney, managed to turn the polls around and form a minority government after Federal elections were called on April 28 last year.
A survey by the Angus Reid Institute found that 64% of Canadians believed the Carney government has met or exceeded expectations on improving Canada's international reputation, 57% on diversifying trade partners, and 56% on managing its relationship with the United States.
However, Canadians felt the government has fallen short when it comes to improving housing affordability (67%) and addressing the high cost of living (70%).
Prime Minister Carney enjoys a 58% approval rating, and the ruling party has the support of 42% of respondents, seven points higher than that for the Conservatives.
