Investigations into Nancy Guthrie's kidnapping have led to the discovery of potentially groundbreaking new evidence, which could significantly alter the course of the probe, according to a former FBI agent.

A search warrant executed in Longmont revealed Guthrie's personal belongings, including her fitness tracker with heart rate data from the morning of her abduction, and DNA and fingerprints from an abandoned SUV near the Superior jogging trail.

Forensic teams linked the evidence to a person of interest who had been previously interviewed but not publicly identified.

Retired FBI special agent Mark Lageman characterized the discoveries as potentially transformative, stating that the physical evidence would 'light a fire on social media' if released.

The FBI is currently examining new evidence, including hairs discovered in Guthrie's residence, and has chosen not to comment on the latest update.
