Tony Wilson, the iconic bassist and songwriter of British soul band Hot Chocolate, has passed away at the age of 89 at his home in Trinidad. His family confirmed the news on social media over the weekend.

Wilson's family shared a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, expressing their gratitude for the time they had with him and the music he left behind. His son Danny also paid tribute, sharing his admiration for his father's dedication to the music industry and the struggles he faced in the 1970s.

The band's big break came in 1969 when they sent a reggae-style version of Give Peace a Chance to John Lennon, who later signed them to the Apple record label. Hot Chocolate became known for their unique sound, which blended soul, rock, reggae, and disco.

Some of Tony Wilson's most well-known songs include You Sexy Thing, Emma, Love Is Life, and Brother Louie. He also co-wrote songs for other artists like Bet Yer Life I Do and Think About Your Children.
