A new poll reveals that 56% of Americans are against US President Donald Trump's plan to build a ballroom on the White House grounds, while just under 30% support it.
The survey, conducted by The Washington Post, ABC News, and Ipsos, found that public opinion on the proposal has remained steady since a similar poll in October 2025.
The poll, which included 1,292 US adults, was conducted from last Friday through Tuesday, overlapping with a shooting incident near the White House Correspondents' Association dinner.
Trump defended the ballroom project as a security necessity, citing the recent incident, but the proposal has also sparked debate over funding, with some lawmakers pushing for $400 million in taxpayer funds.
