Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed optimism about a potential deal with Iran after speaking with US President Donald Trump.
Netanyahu said Trump believes there's an opportunity to leverage US military achievements to achieve war objectives in the Middle East, while safeguarding vital US and Israeli interests.
However, Netanyahu vowed to continue strikes on Iran and Lebanon, claiming severe blows had been dealt to Tehran's nuclear programme and Hezbollah.
The call came after Trump announced a five-day pause on strikes on Iran's energy infrastructure and claimed the US and Iran had had productive conversations about resolving hostilities in the Middle East.
However, Iran's foreign ministry dismissed Trump's remarks, denying any talks were underway.
