The Toronto Star revealed that Antoine Forest, a first officer with Jazz Aviation, was one of the pilots killed in the Air Canada plane crash at LaGuardia Airport on Sunday.

Forest, originally from Coteau-du-Lac, Quebec, had been working as a first officer at Jazz Aviation for just over three years.

He is survived by his mother, Manon Turpin, his brother, Cédric Forest, and his grandmother, Jeannette Gagnier.

Forest had been in a relationship with his partner, Kahina Gagnon, since 2022.

The crash occurred when the CRJ-900 aircraft, arriving from Montreal, struck a fire truck that had been cleared to cross the runway while the plane was simultaneously cleared to land.

Despite the impact, passengers credited the pilots’ actions in the final moments with preventing an even greater tragedy.
