Reports have emerged that Corey Lewandowski, a senior Trump administration official, has been fired by President Trump amid allegations of an affair with Kristi Noem.

Noem, the former DHS secretary, was subjected to questioning over the alleged affair during a House Judiciary Committee hearing, which she and Lewandowski have denied.

The New York Post reported that Trump fired Lewandowski after he was spotted with Noem on an official South America trip as US Special Envoy.

Lewandowski's role in the Trump administration was informal, but influential, and it is unlikely that an official statement will come from the White House on his departure.

The reasons for Trump's decision to fire Lewandowski are reportedly linked to his spending of $220 million on an ad with Noem and his contracting decisions, as well as his own request to be removed from the State Department.
