President Donald Trump and his former ally Elon Musk made headlines in 2025 after they questioned the status of the US gold reserve at Fort Knox in Kentucky.

Trump and Musk claimed that the gold might have been 'stolen' and planned to inspect the reserve, but nearly two years after Trump's election, the issue took a backseat.

However, during an interview on 'Full Measure' with Sharyl Attkisson, Trump revealed that he and Musk 'played with' the issue, saying they wanted to 'knock on the door' and see if the gold was still there.

Trump indirectly assured that the gold is still in place, as reported when the issue first emerged.

Notably, the Fort Knox gold reserve holds roughly 9.2 million lbs. of gold valued at $6.2 billion, and it is not clear when the gold reserve was last audited.
