The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), a key ally of the BJP at the Centre, has expressed concerns over the rise of the satirical online outfit Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).
TDP's state unit president Palla Srinivasa Rao said that the CJP's popularity is driven by the 'aspirations of the youth' and that the party needs to 'recalibrate our policies' to address these concerns.
Rao stressed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu are committed to job creation, economic development, and digital India, but acknowledged that some of the concerns raised by the CJP, including unemployment, need to be taken into consideration.
The TDP has 16 seats in the Lok Sabha and is a key ally of the BJP, which fell short of the majority mark in the 2024 polls.
The CJP has gained over 20 million followers on Instagram and has highlighted issues within the education and employment sectors, before facing a government crackdown.
