Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written to Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Shivaraj Singh Chouhan, urging immediate action to support mango farmers in the state. The CM's letter highlights the severe distress faced by farmers due to a sharp decline in market prices, with production costs remaining high. The price gap has led to widespread financial stress, protests, and growing agrarian anxiety. Siddaramaiah has requested the Union Minister to implement a Price Deficiency Payment Scheme and initiate procurement operations to ensure farmers receive at least the minimum cost of cultivation as a safety net. The CM has also written to his Andhra Pradesh counterpart, urging him to withdraw a ban on the entry of mangoes from Karnataka into his state. A timely intervention is crucial to stabilize prices, prevent further rural distress, and protect the interests of Karnataka's farming community.
