Satyaram Reang: Hojagiri Dance Maestro and Padma Shri Awardee Passed Away at the age of 80
Prominent Hojagiri Dance Guru and recipient of the Padma Shri award Satyaram Reang passed away on October 2nd 2023 at the age of 80. He was born in 1943 in Tripura's at Dashami Reang Para. Satyaram Reang was not only known for his mastery of the Hojagiri Dance but also for his contributions toward Indian culture.
In addition to the Padma Shri, he was honoured with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1986. His demise was met with profound sadness and many well-wishers gathered at his residence in Dashami Reang Para located in the Tripura Santir Bazar East Kathalia ADC Village to pay their respects.
On October 2nd in the morning Kathalia Deputy Director of the Information and Culture Department Ripon Chakma along with Senior Information Officer Rajesh Debnath visited Dashami Reang Para to bid their final farewell to the late Satyaram Reang. He is survived by numerous relatives, including two sons and five daughters.
Rajya Sabha Member Shri Biplap Kumar Deb also expressed his deep condolences upon hearing the news of Satyaram Reang's passing on Twitter.
