Five members of a Tamil family were among the nine people killed in the Bargi Dam boat tragedy in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district. The victims included two women, their husbands, and two young children.
The family, from Anna Nagar in Dharapuram, Tiruppur district, was visiting relatives in Madhya Pradesh when the incident occurred. A sudden storm caused a cruise boat to overturn and sink in Bargi Dam.
Twenty-two people were rescued, but the bodies of the victims are being transported back to Tamil Nadu. Authorities are making arrangements to provide compensation to the bereaved families.
