US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer is set to visit India next week for a two-day meeting with Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on June 23-24 to discuss the interim trade agreement.

The discussions are expected to focus on finalizing the framework deal and the larger bilateral trade agreement (BTA), which has been under discussion between the two sides.

India and the US are moving towards closing all open ends of the interim trade agreement, with both sides likely to execute the first phase of the BTA by mid-next month.

The US had agreed to reduce tariffs on India to 18% from 50% under the pact, but the US Supreme Court's ruling against President Donald Trump's tariffs has changed the tariff landscape.

Both sides may need to revisit the agreement's framework, and India has expressed its intentions to purchase $500 billion of US energy products, aircraft, and other goods over the next five years.
