Namibia Battles Malaria Outbreak

Namibia has reported 56,130 malaria cases and 95 deaths since December 2024, with all 10 malaria-endemic regions affected. The outbreak is attributed to favorable mosquito breeding conditions during the rainy season.

Health Minister Esperance Luvindao urged communities to seek immediate medical care when symptoms arise, emphasizing malaria's serious public health threat.

The government has implemented control measures, including indoor spraying and awareness campaigns, to combat the spread. Malaria transmission typically peaks between December and May, aligning with the country's rainy season. The Ministry of Health is working to monitor cases and educate communities on prevention and control.
