Nationwide Civil Defence Mock Drill Scheduled

The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced a nationwide civil defence exercise and rehearsal across 244 categorised Civil Defence Districts on May 7. The drill aims to test the country's preparedness in the face of rising tensions with Pakistan following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack.

One of the key directives for the exercise includes "provision for crash blackout measures." A crash blackout constitutes an emergency shutdown of lights and visible infrastructure designed to reduce the visibility of targets during potential air raids.

The nationwide mock drill will assess the country's readiness to respond to potential threats. The exercise is a proactive measure to ensure public safety and security. The drill will be carried out on May 7, with various measures in place to test the country's civil defence systems.
