Sunil Chhetri Comes Out of Retirement to Rejoin Indian National Team

In a surprise move, the All India Football Federation has announced that former Indian captain Sunil Chhetri is set to return to the national team for the upcoming FIFA International Window matches against Maldives and Bangladesh. Chhetri had previously announced his retirement from international football after playing his last game against Kuwait in June last year.

Chhetri's return comes at a crucial time, ahead of the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 Qualifiers Third Round. India is scheduled to play a friendly match against Maldives on March 19th in Shillong, followed by a qualifying match against Bangladesh on March 25th at the same venue.

His return is expected by the audience to boost the team's morale and chances in the upcoming qualifiers.
