The Fire Department of New York City confirmed a devastating fire on East 187th Street on Sunday, leaving two civilians dead and 11 others injured.

The five-story mixed residential and commercial building quickly engulfed in flames, with firefighters struggling to contain the blaze.

Two individuals were trapped inside and found dead by firefighters, while 11 others were transported to a local hospital with injuries, with two in critical condition.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
