Confusion has engulfed the second round of Iran-US talks, with the White House confirming that talks will be held in Islamabad over the weekend, while Iran has denied any plans for a meeting.
US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are set to leave for Islamabad on Saturday, but Iran's foreign minister Abbas Araghchi has landed in Pakistan, saying he will meet with Pakistani officials to discuss regional developments and ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability.
Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei wrote on X that 'no meeting is planned to take place between Iran and the U.S. Iran's observations would be conveyed to Pakistan.'
The White House had earlier confirmed that President Donald Trump is sending envoys to Pakistan to continue talks with Iran, with Vice President JD Vance on standby to dispatch to Pakistan if necessary.
