US President Donald Trump has cautioned that diplomatic efforts to end the Middle East conflict could collapse rapidly, warning that renewed military action is a possibility.
Iranian officials have been reviewing a new US proposal aimed at ending the conflict, which has been under a temporary truce for three months.
Trump described the negotiations as being on the 'borderline' between reaching an agreement and renewed military action, adding that Tehran must provide '100 per cent good answers'.
The conflict, which has seen verbal hostilities intensify, has not led to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway that handles about one-fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments.
Pakistan's army chief, Asim Munir, is reportedly set to enter ceasefire efforts, a development that comes as mediation efforts continue amid stalled negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
