A small aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from Crystal Airport near Minneapolis, resulting in the deaths of North Dakota state legislator Liz Conmy and the pilot.
Conmy, a Fargo native and advocate for public education, environmental issues, and transparency, was confirmed dead by the North Dakota Democratic–Nonpartisan League Party.
Authorities responded to the crash at 11:51 a.m. in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, and the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident involving a Beech F33A airplane.
Tributes have poured in for Conmy from North Dakota Gov. Kelly Armstrong and House Minority Leader Zac Ista, who described her as a dedicated public servant who lived life to the fullest.
