US President Donald Trump has expressed his willingness to meet with Iran's senior leadership, despite Tehran's uncertainty over participating in the latest round of peace negotiations in Pakistan.
In an interview with the New York Post, Trump stated that he assumes Iran will participate in the talks, but contradicted a Reuters report that Vice President JD Vance had not yet left for Pakistan.
Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said he had a call with his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar, about issues related to the ceasefire, but did not confirm whether Tehran would attend the negotiations.
The US has delivered a proposal to Iran, which is currently under review, and President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed a desire to reduce tensions through diplomatic means.
