India's High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, has wrapped up his tenure in London to take up a new post as Ambassador to China.
UK Foreign Office Minister Seema Malhotra hailed Doraiswami's role in elevating the bilateral partnership during his three-year assignment, citing the successful conclusion of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement.
Doraiswami, a fluent Mandarin speaker, has previously served in Beijing and emphasized that the Free Trade Agreement is a platform for increased trade and investments, with work yet to be done.
As he departs, Doraiswami was praised by dignitaries, including King Charles III and Commonwealth Secretary General Shirley Botchwey, for his leadership and policy direction.
Periasamy Kumaran, a fellow diplomat, has been named as the new High Commissioner of India to the UK and is expected to take up his assignment soon.
