West Bengal Chief Secretary Dushyant Nariala has issued a directive to safeguard official records following the massive loss of Mamata Banerjee's TMC in the assembly elections.

The official directed that no important paper or file is removed, damaged, or taken out from offices, and unauthorized copying or scanning is not permitted.

The directive states that all files and important papers must be properly accounted for, and department heads and secretaries will be held personally responsible for any deviation.

The order comes after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) crossed the 200-mark, winning 167 seats and leading in 41 others, taking its tally to 208.

The BJP appears poised to form the government in the state, maintaining its lead through the counting process.
