Kolkata: India's under-17 women's team is set to face Australia in the 2026 AFC under-17 Women's Asian Cup, and head coach Pamela Conti is confident in her team's abilities.

Despite being grouped with two of the best teams in the world, Conti believes that her team can compete and has no pressure on them, only on her.

The key to their success is to enjoy the tournament and not worry about the results, said Conti, who acknowledged that building a team in three months is a challenge.

India have been training for three-and-a-half months, and Conti is grateful to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for arranging friendlies and long training camps.

Conti's brother, Vincenzo, is an assistant coach, and the siblings have a professional relationship, which has helped the team in their preparations.

The team will play Japan on Tuesday and Lebanon on May 8, and Conti is focused on the present, not the future, saying that they will be happy if they qualify for the under-17 World Cup, but for now, all they are thinking of is Australia.
