India has expressed deep concern over the escalating unrest in Nepal, which has claimed at least 19 lives and left over 300 injured. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has urged all parties to exercise restraint and resolve differences through peaceful dialogue. The MEA has also advised Indian nationals in Nepal to exercise caution and follow local guidelines, citing the reimposition of curfew in several cities. The protests, sparked by the government's decision to lift a ban on social media platforms, have turned violent, with security forces opening fire on demonstrators in Kathmandu and the eastern city of Itahari. The protesters, largely students, are demanding the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, accusing his government of authoritarianism and corruption. Personal accounts from those affected have intensified public anger, with many calling for the Prime Minister's resignation. Despite assurances from Prime Minister Oli, including the formation of an investigation panel and financial relief for victims' families, the protests show no signs of abating. The situation remains tense, with Indian nationals in Nepal advised to remain cautious.
