This Code of Ethics applies to all editors, reporters, contributors, and partners who create or publish content for Kokthum The News.
1. Accuracy and verification
We verify information before publication to the best of our ability, provide context, attribute sources, and correct significant errors promptly and transparently.
2. Independence
Editorial decisions are free from undue influence by advertisers, political interests, or commercial pressure. Conflicts of interest are disclosed.
3. Fairness and impartiality
We present news fairly, give subjects an opportunity to respond to significant allegations where feasible, and distinguish news from opinion.
4. Respect and sensitivity
We avoid content that promotes hatred, discrimination, or violence. Sensitive topics — including victims of crime and minors — are handled with care.
5. Transparency
Sponsored content, paid partnerships, and material connections are clearly disclosed. Automated or aggregated content is reviewed before publication.
6. Privacy
We respect individual privacy and publish personal data only when there is a clear public interest.
7. Plagiarism and copyright
We do not plagiarise. We respect copyright, credit sources, and use third-party material only with permission or under applicable fair dealing provisions.
