The US and Israel launched strikes on Iran on February 28, prompting retaliatory attacks from Iran targeting Israel and a US military facility in Bahrain. Explosions were also reported in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Qatar, and Kuwait as tensions escalated across the region.
Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar has now weighed in on the conflict, calling out Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu for their actions.
Akhtar took to his X account on March 2, stating, 'I think this time Trump and Israel have overplayed their hand because if they are allowed to get away with this audacity and do an Iraq to Iran, China will lose her total credibility in the world.'
Akhtar also compared Trump and Netanyahu to 'bullies' who have 'pushed others to the wall and ultimately left no choice to others but to react in a decisive manner.'
The conflict has resulted in a significant death toll, with at least 201 people killed and over 700 injured in Iran, according to the Red Crescent. In the US, three American service members were killed and five others seriously injured during the US attacks on Iran.
