The Bollywood film Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, has been a massive success at the box office, collecting over ₹1000 crore worldwide. Although the movie is a work of fiction, it is rooted in reality, set in Pakistan's Lyari suburb of Karachi, infamous for gang violence in the early 2000s. The film stars Akshaye Khanna as Rehman Dakait, a real-life gangster. In a surprising turn of events, a friend of the real Rehman Dakait, Habib Jan Baloch, a lawyer and Baloch nationalist, has praised the film. Baloch, who was friends with Rehman two decades ago, watched the film twice and expressed his gratitude towards Bollywood. 'What Pakistan did not do, India's Bollywood did,' he said. However, contrary to the film's portrayal, Baloch described Rehman as a hero and a good man, stating that he was instrumental in preventing a similar fate to Bangladesh. His comments come amidst criticism from the Pakistan People's Party, who claim the film portrays their party in an unfavorable light. Dhurandhar features Ranveer Singh as an Indian spy infiltrating Rehman's gang and stars Sanjay Dutt as the real cop who headed the Lyari Task Force, among others.
