Actor Jim Carrey received the Honorary Cesar award in Paris for his contribution to the visual arts. The actor delivered an emotional speech in French, sparking rumors that he was impersonated by a drag artist. However, the Cesar Awards have issued a statement calling the rumors a 'non-issue.'
According to Gregory Caulier, the general delegate of the Cesar Awards, Jim's appearance at the event was authentic and planned since summer. He worked on his speech in French for months and attended the event with his partner, daughter, grandson, and close friends and family members.
In his acceptance speech, Jim thanked his family and credited his late father for introducing him to the value of love, generosity, and laughter. He also joked about his French skills, saying 'my tongue is tired.'
Jim is known for his Hollywood films such as The Mask, Liar Liar, and The Truman Show, and has a career spanning four decades in stand-up, television, cinema, literature, and visual arts.
