Walt Disney Pictures has finally cast the leads for its highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Tangled. Australian actress Teagan Croft, known for her roles in Titans and True Spirit, will play the iconic Princess Rapunzel. She will be joined by Milo Manheim, a Disney fan favourite from the Zombies franchise, as the charming Flynn Rider. The casting decision was reportedly influenced by the chemistry between the two actors. Teagan and Milo will take on the roles originally played by Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi in the 2010 animated film. The road to this announcement was long and winding. Disney first announced the remake in December 2024, but production was halted after the disappointing box office performance of Snow White in 2025. However, the studio resumed development and conducted an extensive search for the new Rapunzel, which included a select group of finalists in London for crucial screen tests. Several rising stars were reportedly in the running, including Freya Skye, Sarah Catherine Hook, Olivia-Mai Barrett, Lola Tung, and Gigi Hadid. Fans have generally welcomed the casting decision, praising the chemistry between Teagan and Milo. The original Tangled film was a critical and commercial success, grossing $592.5 million worldwide. With the leads finally in place, Disney is betting that the combined star power of Teagan and Milo will bring a fresh, Gen-Z energy to this modern classic.
