As Elli AvrRam celebrates Christmas in Mumbai this year, the Swedish actress is reminded of her childhood festivities in Sweden. The festive season, she says, has a unique charm that evokes memories of Diwali in India. For Elli, decorating the Christmas tree is a cherished tradition, much like the decorations that light up homes during Diwali. Elli's Christmas morning is a nostalgic affair, filled with memories of her childhood in Sweden. She recalls being a bit mischievous during the festive season, often sneaking into the room to see what Santa had brought. "I'd gently unwrap the gifts and then rewrap them, trying to keep the surprise intact," she reveals, laughing at the memory. Elli's family has its own set of special Christmas rituals, including cozy meals, Christmas-themed movies, and a special treat in the evening. The actress also has a soft spot for traditional Swedish Christmas food, including a special gravy made with yoghurt, onion, coriander, and caviar. Although she won't be able to enjoy that dish this year, Elli is looking forward to making some ginger cookies, mulled wine, and hot chocolate in Mumbai. She's also planning to recreate a traditional Swedish saffron muffin, a family favorite that's only made on Christmas. As Elli celebrates Christmas in India, she's grateful for the opportunity to blend her Swedish traditions with the vibrant festivities of the Indian festival season. 'This season means a lot to me,' she says, 'and I'm excited to experience it in a new way.'
