A poignant revelation has emerged about Irrfan Khan's final film, Angrezi Medium. Costume designer Smriti Chauhan recalls the actor's deteriorating health while shooting the movie, which was released just days before his passing in 2020. In a recent interview, Smriti shared that Irrfan was visibly struggling with pain and fatigue on set. She noticed that he would 'shrink' as the shoot progressed, forcing them to add padding to his clothes to compensate. Despite her efforts to keep him warm, Irrfan would often complain of feeling cold, a symptom he attributed to his underlying condition. The costume designer recalled several occasions when the shoot had to be cancelled due to Irrfan's inability to work. 'He was in immense pain,' Smriti said, 'and would often take breaks to cope with it. His family was always with him, but even that couldn't alleviate his suffering.' Angrezi Medium, directed by Homi Adajania, marked Irrfan's last on-screen appearance. The film, a sequel to Hindi Medium, also featured Radhika Madan, Kareena Kapoor, and Ranvir Shorey. Irrfan's health issues began in 2018, when he announced his neuroendocrine tumour diagnosis. Despite his illness, the actor continued to work on various projects, including Angrezi Medium. He passed away in 2020, leaving behind his wife Sutapa Sikdar and two sons, Babil and Ayan.
