Mumbai's renowned trumpeter Joe Bandwalla, also known as Joe Vessoaker, has been playing the trumpet for Bollywood movies for decades. On International Jazz Day, he expressed his desire to see jazz bands in Mumbai, lamenting the decline of the jazz music scene.

At 76, Bandwalla has witnessed the beauty of music in his life, but feels that it's not what it used to be. He credits electronic instruments for dominating the industry, leaving few musicians who can play all seven jazz instruments.

Bandwalla's passion for jazz is evident in his love for Spanish Jazz singer and trumpeter, Andrea Motis. His documentary 'What Man, Joe' by Rafeeq Ellias highlights his talent and simplicity.

As International Jazz Day is celebrated in Mumbai and Pune, cafes are hosting live jazz band performances. Bayroute in Palladium mall is hosting a Jazz Night with Dominique Cerejo, while Filament Cocktail Bar in Pune is featuring a grand event with multiple artistes.
