Netflix has officially announced the renewal of Last Samurai Standing for a second season, with Shujiro Saga, also known as Kokushu the Manslayer, set to face off against formidable opponents in the deadly game of Kodoku. The series follows the story of a once-unbeaten samurai, played by Junichi Okada, who enters the high-stakes game to save his family. The first season of Last Samurai Standing was a record-breaking success, topping the Netflix Japan charts for four consecutive weeks and reaching number one on the Weekly Global Top 10 for Non-English Series in 88 countries. The show also made history as the first all-Japanese production to be nominated for Best Foreign Language Series at the Critics' Choice Awards. Creator Michihito Fujii expressed his excitement for the new season, stating, "There's no doubt that Season 2 will be even bigger and better than the first." Okada, who plays the lead role, echoed his sentiments, saying, "We hope to make the next season even more energetic and action-packed.
