The release of Jana Nayagan, Vijay's highly anticipated film, has been cleared for a January 9th release in Tamil Nadu after a Madras High Court ruling. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) was directed to issue a U/A 16+ certificate for the film. The court's decision came after a hearing on Wednesday where the CBFC and production house representatives argued over the film's censor certification. According to reports, a complaint filed by a member of the examining committee, which was not recorded, led to the halt in certification. The Additional Solicitor General (ASG) representing the CBFC revealed that the CBFC Chairperson had the authority to order a review of the film, despite it being screened to the examining committee. The production house, KVN Productions, had claimed that they had ₹500 crore at stake in the film. Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, stars Vijay, Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, and Bobby Deol. The film was highly publicized as Vijay's final film before he contests in the Tamil Nadu elections this year. With the censor certification now in place, fans can expect the film to hit theaters on its scheduled release date.
