In a surprising revelation, Mahesh Babu's Kalaripayattu trainer, Hari Krishna, has spilled the beans about the star's secret martial arts training for his upcoming film, Varanasi. Hari, a renowned Kalaripayattu expert from Hyderabad, revealed that he was asked to keep the training a secret last year. However, he has now shared the details of his two-month training session with Mahesh Babu. The 32-year-old trainer, who holds a Taekwondo black belt, has been teaching Kalaripayattu for over three years. He was surprised to receive a call from veteran actor Nassar, who asked him to train a superstar. Unbeknownst to Hari, it was Mahesh Babu who would be his student. Hari trained Mahesh over a period of two months, sometimes at Rajamouli's office and sometimes at the star's home. He focused on improving Mahesh's body agility through the Ashta Vadivu (eight animal stances) and other martial arts forms. The trainer revealed that Mahesh had prior knowledge of fitness and had watched YouTube videos on Kalaripayattu before starting the training. Despite the initial plan being for a two-month training period, Mahesh extended it by a few days. Interestingly, Hari revealed that Mahesh trained in multiple martial arts forms before filming Varanasi in January this year. Although the film won't feature explicit martial arts scenes, Hari believes that the training will help Mahesh in his performance. Mahesh Babu's Varanasi, directed by SS Rajamouli and starring Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is set to release in 2027. Hari expressed his gratitude for the experience, stating that Mahesh remained respectful and followed his instructions throughout the training.
