Actor Rajat Kapoor is set to reprise his role as Mahesh Deshmukh in the upcoming Drishyam 3, the third installment of the popular franchise. In a recent interview, Kapoor discussed his character's limited role in the film, saying, 'I was standing behind Tabu, that's it. There's no arc. I'm still standing behind Tabu.' Kapoor's character, a grieving husband and father, plays a supporting role to Tabu's character, Meera Deshmukh, a cop dealing with a family tragedy. Kapoor also reflected on his previous roles as government officials, including a Senior Income Tax officer in Raid 2 and a Directorate General of Police in Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders. He noted that playing generic cop roles can be limiting, as they often don't provide much character development. The Drishyam franchise, which originated in Malayalam, follows the story of a family dealing with a traumatic event. The Hindi version of Drishyam 3, directed by Abhishek Pathak, is set to release on October 2, 2026. A release date for the Malayalam version has not been announced.
