In a remarkable feat, Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar has broken the ₹783 crore barrier at the Indian box office, surpassing SS Rajamouli's RRR. The Ranveer Singh-starrer has now become the 4th-highest-grossing film in India, with domestic collections expected to cross ₹786 crore net (₹943 crore gross) by the end of the day. This achievement is all the more impressive given that Dhurandhar has only been released in Hindi, a language in which no film has ever grossed more than ₹650 crore. In contrast, previous top-grossing films like RRR and Baahubali 2 have benefited from collections in multiple languages. Dhurandhar now stands behind only three films - Pushpa 2 (₹1234 crore), Baahubali 2 (₹1030 crore), and KGF Chapter 2 (₹860 crore). This milestone marks a new benchmark for Hindi films, which have traditionally relied on dubbed versions to boost their box office earnings. In its journey to ₹800 crore, Dhurandhar has surpassed several other big hits, including Jawan, Stree 2, and two 2025 films - Kantara Chapter One and Chhaava. The top 10 all-time grossers at the Indian box office reflect a diverse mix of Hindi and regional successes, with four films from Hindi and Telugu each, and two from the Kannada film industry. The highest-grossing Tamil film in India is Rajinikanth's 2.0, which ranks 15th with ₹407 crore in net earnings. The top 20 includes two Hollywood films as well - Avatar: Way of Water and Avengers: Endgame. Dhurandhar's achievement is a testament to the growing popularity of Hindi films and their ability to resonate with audiences across the country.
