Subhash Ghai has shared his first impression of Salman Khan's upcoming film Maatrubhumi, calling it a 'must watch'. The celebrated filmmaker watched the rough cut of the film and praised its narrative scope and performances.

Maatrubhumi has been a subject of controversy due to its depiction of the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between India and China. The film's teaser drew criticism from China's Global Times, which accused the makers of distorting facts.

Salman Khan had earlier spoken about the physical challenges involved in shooting the film, including running, working out, and kicking and punching. He also mentioned that shooting in Ladakh at high altitude was extremely difficult and required proper training.

The film, originally titled Battle of Galwan, was renamed to broaden its narrative scope and ease geopolitical tensions with China. Certain portions of the film were also being reshot.
