Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has refuted claims of an income tax raid at her Mumbai residence, stating that it was merely a routine verification by tax officials. The clarification comes after reports emerged that income tax officials had conducted searches at entities owned or operated by Shilpa and her husband, Raj Kundra, across multiple cities. According to a statement issued by Shilpa's lawyer, Prashant Patil, the visit was not a raid but a routine verification aimed at following up with the actress. Patil warned that anyone spreading misinformation about the case would face legal consequences. The development comes in the wake of a probe by the Mumbai police into a ₹60-crore fraud case, in which Raj and Shilpa are accused of cheating and criminal breach of trust. The case involves a loan-cum-investment deal linked to the now-defunct company Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, where Raj and Shilpa were directors. Raj has denied the allegations, calling them baseless and motivated, and has filed a quashing petition in the High Court. He has expressed confidence that justice will prevail and has urged the media to exercise restraint as the matter is sub-judice.
