Tamil music composer and actor GV Prakash Kumar has become the latest celebrity to fall prey to a common social media scam. The scammer, posing as a fan, convinced Prakash to donate ₹20,000 for the 'last rites' of his 'mom'. The scammer's sob story, which included a photo of a deceased woman, was posted on X (formerly Twitter) and tagged Prakash, who eventually transferred the money via Gpay. Social media scams often target celebrities by sharing heart-wrenching stories on platforms like Instagram or X. While some pleas may be genuine, most are attempts by scammers to make quick money. In this case, the scammer used the handle 'Mom Little King' and claimed to be a fan who needed help with his family's expenses. Prakash initially ignored the plea, but after being tagged again, he replied and asked for the scammer's Gpay number. The scammer then transferred the money, and even thanked Prakash after receiving it. However, other users soon pointed out the scam, revealing that the deceased woman in the picture had passed away in 2022. Fans on social media expressed their shock and disappointment, with many advising Prakash to file a police report. While Prakash has remained silent on the matter, his fans are urging him to take action to prevent similar scams in the future.
