Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine has begun serving a three-month sentence at New York City's notorious Metropolitan Detention Center, where he will be housed alongside Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and Luigi Mangione, accused of murdering a United Healthcare executive. The 29-year-old artist, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, reported to the facility in Brooklyn on Tuesday, accompanied by internet personality Adin Ross and a live camera crew. Hernandez has been embroiled in gang-related charges and was sentenced to additional time behind bars after admitting to assaulting a man and possessing drugs. The troubled Metropolitan Detention Center has faced criticism for its poor conditions and high levels of violence, with some judges refusing to send inmates there due to its reputation as 'hell on earth.' The facility has previously housed high-profile inmates, including R. Kelly, Sean 'Diddy' Combs, and Ghislaine Maxwell. Hernandez's music career has been impacted by his repeated run-ins with the law. He was sentenced to two years in prison in 2019 for his involvement with the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods and was released early in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He was previously slapped with a 45-day sentence for violating the terms of his supervised release. The latest charges against Hernandez stem from a police raid at his Miami home, where small amounts of cocaine and ecstasy were found. Prosecutors also claim he punched a man who taunted him at a Florida mall over his cooperation against gang members.
