Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay is in Trichy to file his nomination for the upcoming Tamil Nadu elections. A massive crowd followed him from the airport, where he got out of his vehicle to check on a couple who fell off their bike during the melee.
Vijay, who is contesting from Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East, held a roadshow and waved at fans from the sunroof of a van. Despite the chaos, he approached the couple and inquired about their well-being before leaving.
The main electoral contest is expected to be between the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance and the National Democratic Alliance, led by AIADMK. Recently, Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam party withdrew from the race and supported the DMK-led alliance instead.
