Biden's remark was made during a celebration of his life and achievements at his alma mater, where he received an honorary degree in 2009.
The event was attended by Democrat stalwarts, including New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Syracuse Mayor Sharon Owens.
Biden graduated from Syracuse College of Law in 1968 and received his juris doctor degree.
