Canada's immigration department has issued a stern warning to individuals caught submitting fake documents, stating they could face a five-year ban from entering the country.
The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has increased scrutiny across multiple visa categories, including work permits, study permits, and asylum claims, in an effort to combat fraud.
A recent report by Auditor General Karen Hogan highlighted concerns about the International Student Program, citing over 153,000 international students as potentially non-compliant with study permit conditions.
IRCC has agreed to provide the Canada Border Services Agency with a list of individuals whose permits have expired and who have not maintained valid immigration status.
