President Trump's attendance at the White House Correspondents' Dinner turned into chaos on Saturday evening after shots rang out near the ballroom. The president was whisked offstage by Secret Service agents, and the event was eventually canceled. Guests, including cabinet secretaries and reporters, were left shaken by the incident.

Trump had been excited to deliver his speech, packed with jokes, including jabs at his own cabinet members. However, instead of taking the mic, he was pulled off the stage by law-enforcement officials. A 31-year-old man approached the security checkpoint before the shots were fired, and a huddle of agents formed around Trump as he was removed.

Armed law-enforcement agents stationed themselves on the stage, and cabinet secretaries were rushed out of the room. A security staffer called out for House Speaker Mike Johnson's wife, Kelly, and a waitress cried out in Spanish, 'I don't want to die here. I don't want to die in this room.'

Attendees hid under tables and behind chairs, and video footage showed senior administration officials and cabinet secretaries crouching down. The event was eventually canceled, and Trump remained at the hotel as advisers tried to suss out what happened.
