Former FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer has shed light on the motive behind Nancy Guthrie's kidnapper sending ransom notes to media outlets. According to Coffindaffer, the kidnapper's goal was to 'publicly humiliate' Savannah Guthrie and her family.
Coffindaffer suggested that the kidnapper knew they wouldn't get paid $6 million without proof of life and that the FBI would advise the Guthries not to pay. By going to the press with the demand, the kidnapper forced the family to address the notes publicly, creating a public backlash against the Guthries.
Coffindaffer stated, 'It was the right decision because Nancy was likely deceased. It wasn't enough that Porch Guy took her mom, they wanted her to receive public backlash too.'
The case remains unsolved, with no update on Nancy's whereabouts and no suspect identified. Savannah Guthrie has expressed hope for a miracle, but also acknowledged that her mother may be dead.
