Ex-Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has shared his theory about the murder of 18-year-old Loyola college student Sheridan Gorman. The freshman was shot dead last Thursday while walking to the pier at Tobey Prinz Beach with friends to see the Northern Lights.

Blagojevich suggested that the murder was part of a 'gang initiation' by the accused, 25-year-old Venezuelan migrant Jose Medina-Medina. Medina-Medina is facing first-degree murder and weapon charges.

According to court records, an arrest warrant was issued for Medina-Medina in 2023 after he stopped appearing in court on shoplifting charges. He was arrested shortly after Gorman's murder using facial recognition software.
