The couple, whose spouse was laid off from Oracle, explained that their 60-day grace period starts on April 11, 2026, and they cannot renew their H1B visa due to no PERM and I-140. They plan to return to India in July and are seeking advice on how to professionally land a job around that time.
On social media, individuals shared their experiences and tips on navigating the logistical and professional challenges of 'reverse migration.' One person advised preparing a resume with an Indian cell number and networking with people in India for reference. Another suggested trying to get an offer from a company in India through internal referrals or LinkedIn contacts.
According to documents viewed by Business Insider, laid-off Oracle employees in the USA are set to receive four weeks' base salary, plus one week of severance for each additional year of employment, up to 26 weeks.
